Resolution On Dignity And Value Of Human Life
WHEREAS, The term person applies to all living human organisms from the beginning of their biological development, regardless of the means by which they were procreated, method of reproduction, age race, sex, gender, physical well-being, function, or condition of physical or mental dependency and/or disability; and
WHEREAS, The Baptist Faith and Message says of MAN, "The sacredness of human personality is evident in that God created man in His own image, and in that Christ died for man: therefore, every person of every race possesses full dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love"; and
WHEREAS, Baptists also believe about the FAMILY, "Children, from the Moment of Conception, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord," as the Baptist Faith and Message says; and
WHEREAS, Our Christian Brother and Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Walter B. Hoye II will begin in November to gather 1.2 million signatures by mid-April 2010 to put this initiative on the California Ballot; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the California Southern Baptist Convention meeting in Riverside California, in November 2009, goes on record to say that we will pray for and encourage initiatives that affirm or promote the biblical teachings regarding dignity and the value of all Human Life.
